To keep woollens soft and fluffy you will find the following tried and tested recipe to be excellent – try it and you will be convinced.
- Pure Soap Flakes ½ packet (300 g)
- Methylated Spirits 1 cup (200mL)
- Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Oil 1 small bottle (50mL)
Mix methylated spirits with soap flakes. Add Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Oil and stir. Store in a wide necked screw capped jar (large coffee jar)
Use one tablespoon of mixture per garment. Dissolve in a small quantity of hot water and then pour into lukewarm wash water. Hand or machine wash on wool cycle.
No need to rinse unless white garments are to be stored for a long period (rinsing reduces the risk of yellowing). Squeeze and roll in towel to remove excess water. Keep garments in shape while drying out of direct sunlight.
“I enjoy making our own wool wash mix – prefer to do that than purchase the ready mixed available at the supermarket. My daughter and I both have wool carpet and we use the wool wash to help keep it clean. I have also used it on synthetic carpet with good results. We wash all our cushions and pillows and my dining chairs have gold velvet cushions – these are successfully washed. My daughter has brown velvet chairs – she uses it to maintain its good looks. I think what I want to say is it’s a “dam” good product”. J.M. WA

Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Spray and Oil are marvellous for taking out oil-soluble grease and grass marks, spots and stains from clothes and fabric. Coat or spray the soiled areas, leave for one minute (5 minutes or more for difficult to remove stains) then wash in normal manner.
The Spray can be used to deodorise and clean under shirt arms and collars before washing.
Bosisto’s Eucalyptus is generally harmless to material and it does not stain or smear. However, it is recommended to patch test a small area first.
